On Sunday 30th of March London Mums Magazine was invited to Vue West End (Leicester Square), 3 Cranbourn Street, to review the new release of A Minecraft Movie. I took 3 teenagers with me that grew up playing Minecraft.

Minecraft a game that is played by millions around the world, is released this April as a movie starring Jack Black, Jason Mamoa, Emma Myers and many more.

In the upcoming film, Jack Black plays the role of Steve. Initially, Jack Black was voiced as a talking pig, but the role was reimagined for him as Steve, a skilled and resourceful guide navigating the game world. Jack Black’s portrayal brings a mix of humour and adventure to the film. His portrayal is full of charm and excitement, bringing a fun and approachable energy to the role and his performance highlights both the adventure and creativity in Minecraft, as an audience his role was comedic and he was full of energy throughout the movie keeping me engaged.

The movie centres around an unlikely group of explorers trying to uncover the mysteries behind a new, dimension that threatens their world. What begins as a simple quest quickly evolves into a tale about collaboration of different people coming together to eradicate evil. The iconic blocky aesthetic is present throughout the movie representing what ‘Minecraft’ is.

This movie actually exceeded our expectations and told a simple narrative with beautiful animation, great movie for the Minecraft fanatics. We gave it a 6/10.
