Positive Vibes! Positive Advice!
I know it’s hard when you are in a difficult situation, but if something doesn’t go your way, think of it as a challenge to fix, accept, re-define, or learn from the event.
We have so many common sayings regarding how to handle life challenges. Why we keep saying them is because they actually work.
You need to remember that it isn’t the event that was bad, it’s your perception and thoughts about the event. I find the expression, when faced with a hard choice, “take a step back before making a decision” becoming increasingly more helpful and beneficial before making a choice or saying something (verbal or written).
When you are in a heightened state, that first impulse is to react quickly. That isn’t always the best solution. There are times when a little time and distance help you focus on the situation and best way forward. “Pause for thought” – another wise sayings and advice.
And two more saying that I value to help me with decisions are “What would _____ tell me to do” and “trust your gut”.
What your favourite (?), I asked AI for top 10. One of these or one of your own. Please share.
- “Cross that bridge when you come to it.” (While it seems to delay, it advises against worrying prematurely, which can cloud judgment.)
- “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” (This encourages action, even if delayed, but implies thoughtful timing.)
- “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” (Diversify your approach and consider multiple outcomes.)
- “Fortune favours the bold.” (Sometimes, calculated risk is necessary, but this must be balanced with caution.)
· “When in doubt, do without.” (If uncertainty is overwhelming, sometimes the safest choice is inaction.) - “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.” (Difficult decisions and challenges build resilience and expertise.)
- “Every path has its puddle.” (No choice is perfect, and you’ll encounter obstacles regardless of your decision.)
- “Don’t burn your bridges.” (Maintain relationships, as future circumstances may require their support.)
- “The devil is in the details.” (Pay close attention to the specifics of each option, as small factors can have significant consequences.)
· “This too shall pass.” (Remind yourself that even the most difficult situations are temporary, and your decision’s impact will evolve over time.)
