Rara lights up The Crazy Coqs: A night of soul, sass, and stunning vocals

On the evening of 30th January 2025, the intimate and elegant venue of The Crazy Coqs, nestled near Piccadilly Circus, played host to a truly unforgettable performance by the rising star Rara. Together with Mississippi MacDonald, Rara delivered a gig that was equal parts soulful, sassy, and utterly captivating.

The Crazy Coqs, known for its chic Art Deco interiors and cosy atmosphere, provided the perfect backdrop for the evening. With its signature red soft lights glowing on each table and a menu of creatively named cocktails (think ‘Edith Piaf’ and other musical nods), the venue exuded a warm, inviting vibe that complemented Rara’s powerful performance.

Rara, a true force of nature, has honed her craft through numerous trips to Nashville and Memphis, and it shows. Her music is a masterful blend of Amy Winehouse’s soulful depth, the raw energy of Elvis’ Memphis, and a touch of Nashville’s storytelling charm, all delivered with the powerhouse vocals reminiscent of Adele.

The set-list was a mix of heartbreak and hope, with Rara’s new songs standing out as particularly poignant. Stripped back to just her powerful voice and a guitar, these tracks showcased her songwriting talent and emotional depth. As she sang lyrics born from the pain of breakups and personal struggles, it was clear that Rara’s music is not just about sorrow – it’s about finding joy and inner strength through the pain.

Her stage presence was magnetic, exuding great style and a bit of sass that kept the audience hooked. Her latest tracks including Sweet Hurricane and It’s not fair added layers of storytelling and authenticity to her performance.

Rara’s journey over the past two years has been one of transformation. Since our last interview, she has channelled her emotional experiences into her music, emerging with a sound that is both deeply personal and universally relatable. Her ability to blend vulnerability with strength is what makes her such a compelling artist.

As the night drew to a close, it was evident that Rara is on the brink of something huge. Her talent, combined with her relentless drive and unique sound, positions her as one to watch in the music world.

Stay tuned for our upcoming interview with Rara, where we’ll dive deeper into her inspirations, her journey, and what’s next for this extraordinary artist.

If you missed this gig, don’t worry – Rara is just getting started. Keep your eyes (and ears) peeled for her next move.
