Sketch in Bloom: Brunch at the Glade, Sketch London review

Walking into Sketch feels like stumbling into a funky art gallery that serves food. This quirky London townhouse, just off Regent Street, isn’t your average fine dining spot — it’s more like a playground for grown-ups with a penchant for the absurd.

Right now, Sketch is throwing a floral fiesta called Sketch in Bloom, celebrating The National Gallery’s 200th birthday. Running until 27 May 2024, this exhibition pays homage to art legends like Alfred Sisley, JMW Turner, and Ambrosius Bosschaert the Elder. Inside, you’ll find massive dried floral displays in see-through glass panels that look like they’ve been plucked straight from a surrealist painting.

Rebel Rebel, the masterminds behind Sketch’s ever-changing reception area, are like floral wizards conjuring up weekly wonders inspired by The National Gallery‘s masterpieces. Their installation is like a living art piece, evolving with each passing week to keep things fresh and funky.

In The Glade, my buddy Carolina and I found ourselves surrounded by “A Vision Under Vine,” an ethereal creation by JamJar Flowers inspired by JMW Turner’s masterpiece “Ulysses Deriding Polyphemus.” It’s like a trip through a flower-filled dreamscape, with every petal and vine telling a story of its own.

Sketch in Bloom is a magnet for art lovers, foodies, and anyone who appreciates a good dose of whimsy with their meal.

Sketch London has a history as colourful as its interiors. Founded in 2003 by the mysterious Mourad Mazouz, aka “Momo”, this place has seen it all. From housing the Royal Institute of British Architects to serving as Christian Dior’s London studio, this building has more stories than a library.

And let’s not forget about the food! The breakfast menu at Sketch is a feast for the senses, with options to satisfy even the pickiest palate. Whether you’re craving a refreshing Acai Bowl or a decadent cone shaped baguette, smoked salmon and Brie, you’re in for a treat.

The Sketch brunch experience is equal parts art gallery and culinary adventure. It’s a place where creativity knows no bounds and every bite is a masterpiece.
