Two things before the weekend – first tidy up or declutter something. Even if it is one drawer, you will feel better. It may seem simple, but it has a great impact on decluttering your mind and less time trying to find things in a state of chaos. This will make you feel happier and you can set a timer and see what you can accomplish in such a short burst of time. I bet you can clear out 3 drawers easily in 10 minutes, clean and rejoice. Be ruthless and throw out the redundant things – like the highlighter that barely highlights and the pen with enough ink left to write, pack of half-eaten stale biscuit, old business card or invite. And get rid of the “I might do that one day – either do it now or put it in your diary and take a photo of it.
Clothes drawer, misc things drawer, desk drawer, kitchen, next to bed – it doesn’t matter just do it for the next few days and see what a change it can make.
You’ll thank me.
Second, now that you have been so good with tiding, take yourself out. Eat at your favourite restaurant or go for a meal you normally don’t go out for, breakfast or brunch, or have someone else cook you a Sunday roast, and really enjoy the change and doing something for yourself.
Both simple activities will make you happier and use that time to appreciate what you are doing for yourself. One seems like a chore but it’s really benefiting your space and wellbeing in the end.
Just doing a set amount time for each tidy event is a great way to stay focused and get the job done! Clean, enjoy and smile.
