Picked by London Mums: THE Advent Calendar for this Christmas

It’s November and it is now time to think of organising the small gifts we hand out to children ahead of the festive season. I am getting used to unboxing little treats in the lead up to Christmas and my Advent Calendar of choice for this Christmas has to be the one by Tinc, the British creators of colourful and inventive stationery, gadgets and accessories. Stationary is useful and seems to be getting prettier and prettier.  Tinc’s items included in this year’s Advent Calendar are robust and durable. This is why we like this product so much unlike some other expensive brands whose items easily break once unpacked.

I feel lucky to have managed to get hold of a Tinc advent calendar for children as it is usually sold out by mid-November due to popular demand.

The sought-after advent calendar is made up of 24 individual boxes, each a different size and containing new and exclusive limited edition gifts that can’t be bought in store.

The advent calendar seems pricey at £28. However this year, the goodies are bigger, better and funkier than before with a combined estimated value of nearly £50.

Each has been designed to appeal to children, who love collecting and keeping the quirky items. Items include festive keychains, colourful stationery as well as luggage tags, cool character erasers and fingertip crayons.

Advent Calendar

In keeping with Tinc tradition, exact details about the contents of this year’s calendar remains a secret so that the items inside each box are a complete surprise in the days leading up to Christmas Day.

But in our pictures you can get an idea of the treats you will be getting.

 Advent Calendar

The advent calendar comes in a colourful sleeve that slides back to reveal the boxes. When turned around day by day, the pictures on the boxes form a festive scene that is completed on Christmas Eve. Each box also has a side-splitting joke on another side, sure to give children the giggles. The whole box is reusable for those creative parents who would like to make their own DIY advent calendar next year.

 Advent Calendar

The Tinc Advent Calendar is available from all Tinc stores, online and John Lewis, but parents can already register their interest to avoid disappointment. The popular retailer predicts that this year’s design will sell out by early November.

What I love about Tinc is that it is a British family business, founded in 2011 by a husband and wife team, Jos and Heli Baker, who wanted to inspire children’s imaginations and help them discover the joy of making, learning and doing. The company operates on the principle of delivering quality products that uphold its commitment to encourage creativity as well as products that combine fun and functionality. The name ‘Tinc’ is an abbreviation of all that the brand represents – Think. Inspire. Create.
