London Mums Magazine child reporters were invited to Vue cinema in Leicester Square to watch a preview screening of Blue Beetle, a Warner Brothers production.
The movie is based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Blue Beetle follows the story of Jaime Reyes, a teenager who acquires a superhero suit when he discovers a mystical scarab relic that fuses to his body.
The story
Jaime Reyes is played by (Xolo Maridueña) a recent college graduate returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. He lives with his mum, dad, sister, uncle and grandma. The house is full of love, a caring family who are very humorous.
The Mexican family are involved throughout the movie, everybody in the family has a role to play. They come from a poor background, his father has recently had a heart attack and the family are financially strained.
Jaime looks for a path forward in the world and adult life, he works as a cleaner comes across a strange ancient relic of alien origin called the Scarab. The Scarab chooses Jaime as its host and together they form the Blue Beetle.
The scarab device that grants him a vast array of abilities. With the Blue Beetle armour, he gains superhuman strength, speed, and durability, making him a force to be reckoned with in combat. He also has the ability to fly. The scarab armoured suit grants him flight, superhuman strength and durability, melee weapon production, translation of alien languages, energy pulse shield projection, ability to create and unleash powerful hand blasts/beams, sound manipulation, technomorphy, pyrokinesis & mechanokinesis and mind link with the Scarab due to his bond with Khaji Da.

The verdict
Visually the graphics of him morphing when he becomes Blue Beetle is amazing to watch, but the overall plot was very weak.
Blue beetle is an enjoyable film with a fun and interesting plot, however the comedy felt forced and predictable throughout the film. Overall, the acting and CGI quality was good during every aspect of the film and seems to be an improvement in quality from the latest DC films.
