Captain Fantastic hitting the headlines

Captain Fantastic is an amazing children’s party franchise which has been hitting the headlines recently. Just named as Children’s Entertainment Company of the Year at the Prestige Awards, the company stands out because it uses professional actors and entertainers to run its range of birthday parties and special events including Christmas parties.

Events are about silliness, laughter and fun but include light-touch messages about positivity and wellbeing rewarding good actions and behaviour.  Set up by Tommy Balaam (you may have seen him in the BBC’s drama Doctors), Captain Fantastic’s mission is to create journeys of fun and safe adventure organising more than 3000 parties and events for 60,000 children across the country every year.  From pirates to princesses, science to disco, each party theme has been designed to be full of fun, excitement and laughter.

However, Captain Fantastic’s magical world extends beyond their unforgettable parties and includes books, music, theatre shows, toys plus a Captain Fantastic YouTube channel which has been enjoyed by over 3.1 million viewers https://www.youtube.com/@CaptainFantasticKids

Most recently, Captain Fantastic has begun to organise special packages for Schools, including wellbeing days and events for children with special educational needs and disabilities, so everyone is included.

Captain Fantastic was originally set up in London in 2010, and was franchised in 2017 with the first franchise in Kent.  There are now 11 franchised territories across the UK and one franchisee is even setting up in the USA.

Captain Fantastic’s founder Tommy Balaam has been very open and honest about his own experience with Dyslexia.  While he was good at Maths at school, he struggled with English but it was years later at acting school that he was first diagnosed with Dyslexia.

His experiences led him to want to create journeys of fun and safe adventure for every child.  Further inspiration to set up parties for children with special educational needs also came from the company’s office manager Ali Warren who has an autistic son, Zac and you can read more about Zac’s journey here: Our Autism Journey – Captain Fantastic (captain-fantastic.co.uk)

Earlier this year Captain Fantastic teamed up with Award-winning charity SPACE Hertfordshire https://spaceherts.org.uk/ for their support in developing parties for children with special educational needs and disabilities.   SPACE Herts  are passionate about supporting families of children and young people who are neurodivergent (Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Tourette’s and other neurodiverse conditions).

With Captain Fantastic’s range of parties, special packages for Schools, including wellbeing days and SEND events so everyone is included, it’s easy to see why Captain Fantastic has also been voted the UK’s Number One children’s entertainment company by the trusted reviewing site FreeIndex.
