Rachel Allen is a busy TV chef, author and teacher… and mother to three children. She is a very practical cook and loves to prepare simple yet delicious food from around the world – ideal for family and friends.

This is Rachel’s Foreword in the book:

‘Feeding and nurturing the family is one of the most important jobs for any parent. There’s a tremendous feeling of satisfaction when everyone sits down to enjoy something you have made, and it more than makes up for the times when parenthood feels demanding and even overwhelming.

From speedy simple breakfasts to light lunches, busy school-night dinners and weekend family get-togethers, I think mealtimes are the best times. The chat and laughter, and the aromas of delicious food, of course, make everything worth it!

In my experience, the happiest families are the ones that eat together – and eat well. And that doesn’t have to mean over-complicating things. Life is lived at 100 mph these days and it’s rare that we parents can take time preparing a family meal.

Most children – if they’re anything like my three: Joshua, Lucca and Scarlett – will be curious and keen to try a range of food from the everyday to the fancy stuff. It’s important to find a few key favourite recipes that you know everyone will enjoy every single time, using ingredients that you can add to a whole variety of dishes.

Once you discover these golden ingredients, you can conjure up delicious and nourishing food to feed your troops time after time.

Pesto has always been one of my ‘go-to’ ingredients and so I am delighted to be working with Sacla’ to bring you this collection of recipes to inspire you and delight your family.

Pesto is a magic wand in the kitchen, transforming anything and everything it touches – from pasta, pizza and soups to sandwiches and more. It perks up breakfast, brunch, lunch, supper, weekend gatherings and snacks and I know that everyone will love these recipes – and you!’
