A little sprinkle of Magic Dust

Magic Door is a new company made up of two friends Betty and Anna who decided to try doing something completely different and as magical and creative as possible. Both have worked in the events/ film/music/photography world all their lives but on the side have been able to let their creative sides run wild when doing their own children’s birthday parties.

From burying bones in the sandpit for a dinosaur party, making a wardrobe to walk through for Narnia, hanging lollipops all over the garden for Willy Wonka, they just love to bring a theme to life and create a little moment of magic. Both have been asked many times to do private parties for people which got them thinking… and so Magic Door was born.

The idea behind Magic Door is that children get to go through the Magic Door into a world of adventure and possibility. To have a journey into another place and lose themselves in the story, to use all five senses to navigate their way around. It is the total antithesis to screen time and something that they hope will be enjoyed by the whole family.

Magic Door is a community based sustainable project which uses where possible local craftspeople and products and upcycles all the sets using found objects. They have also partnered up with Homestart which is a brilliant charity based helping families in need locally and will be working to raise money for them through the event and also provide Homestart families with tickets to their Christmas event.

The first project is ‘A Countdown To Christmas’ which is a mini version of the shows they intend to put on over the coming year. It is a 20 minute show which takes place in a snowy forest and also inside Father Christmas’s house. The children will enter through the Magic Door into a magical forest made from real fir trees, and once there they will help Mother Christmas to mend the toy machine, put food out for the reindeer, and then go into her house to sample her homemade biscuits and wait for Father Christmas to come home and see them. They also get to write a letter to Father Christmas and hand deliver it to him.

Every visit is on a timed basis and in small groups so everyone gets a really special visit with no crowding. Father Christmas will also know lots of facts about each child just to add to the magic. After this they will have the chance to stuff a Christmas cuddly toy, make Christmas cards, decorate a gingerbread man and parents get to enjoy the mulled wine and delicious Christmas snacks on offer.

Magic Door are all about creating a magical moment for families to remember for a long time to come. Tickets for this event are only £8.50 and have now sold out but keep in touch via facebook and twitter to find out more about the next event.
