This year, Be Richmond has joined forces with The Poppy Factory to honour over a century of dedicated service to the veteran community with their ‘Be Remembered’ campaign, an initiative designed to celebrate the inspiring legacy of The Poppy Factory and the countless lives it has touched since its founding in 1922. A series of striking poppy installations have sprung up across Richmond town centre, offering a vibrant and poignant reminder of The Poppy Factory’s role in supporting wounded, injured, and sick veterans over the last 100 years. As the beating heart of veteran support in the UK, The Poppy Factory has provided hope, employment, and dignity to thousands, producing millions of the iconic Remembrance poppies we wear each November.
Celebrating Resilience and Service
For The Poppy Factory, this centenary isn’t just a milestone – it’s a celebration of the resilience, strength, and stories of veterans and their families who have found new purpose and pride through the charity’s support. The ‘Be Remembered’ campaign is a reminder of these personal stories, filling Richmond with tributes to those who have contributed to and benefited from The Poppy Factory’s incredible work.
A Living Legacy in Richmond
Strategically placed across key areas of Richmond, these planters filled with bright red poppies create a reflective space for locals and visitors to pause, honour, and remember. Each installation serves as a visual tribute to The Poppy Factory’s history and to the veterans whose courage and dedication have defined it. The poppies are more than symbols of remembrance – they’re living pieces of history, standing proudly within the community as symbols of resilience, remembrance, and hope.
Be Richmond’s collaboration with The Poppy Factory extends an invitation to all – whether locals or visitors – to explore the rich history behind The Poppy Factory and learn more about the difference this charity has made in the lives of veterans for the past century.
Be Richmond serves as the Business Improvement District (BID) for Richmond town centre, working to support local businesses and to enhance Richmond as an exceptional place to live, work, and visit.
