Affordable Art Fair at Battersea Spring – Review

To all Art lovers around, I’m back again from my biannual pilgrimage to the Affordable Art Fair at Battersea Spring and. As ever, I’m absolutely buzzing! If you’re looking for a burst of inspiration, a splash of colour, and a serious dose of artistic joy, then you simply must make time for the Affordable Art Fair – by far my favourite art event in London.affordable art fair spring 2025 collage

Honestly, it’s like stepping into a sweetie shop for the eyes. Hundreds of artists, all under one roof, showcasing their incredible talent. You wander from stall to stall, each one a little world of its own, and you just can’t help but be swept away. From bold abstracts that practically leap off the canvas to delicate watercolours that whisper of quiet moments, there’s something for absolutely everyone. Including the occasional “Goodness, I hate this one!”. This is art, and my rejection could be your purchase.

What I love most about the Affordable Art Fair is the sheer variety. You’re not just seeing the same old styles; you’re discovering new voices, new techniques, and new perspectives. I spotted some stunning ceramic sculptures that looked like they’d been plucked straight from a fairy tale, and some incredibly vibrant prints that made me want to redecorate my entire flat!

And, yes, it’s called “affordable” for a reason. Now, let’s be realistic, you’re not going to pick up a masterpiece for a tenner – you would need from £600 to £7,000. But, if you’re serious about adding some original art to your home, you’ll find plenty of pieces that won’t break the bank. It’s a proper investment in creativity, and frankly, the world needs more of that.

I always come away from the fair feeling utterly inspired. This time, I’ve got a serious itch to get back to my own sketchbook. I’ve been dreaming of painting those vibrant landscapes I saw, trying to capture that feeling of light and energy. It’s like the fair reignites that creative spark within me, reminding me how important it is to make time for art, even if it’s just a little doodle in the evenings. So here’s my truth: I’ve never actually purchased anything at the Fair, because you know, I’m still in the London rental cycle, but nothing prevents me from dreaming about the day I’ll have my own nest and decorate it to my liking.

But of course, the Affordable Art Fair is primarily a fantastic opportunity to find that perfect piece to complete your room. Whether you’re after a statement piece for your living room or a quirky little print for your kitchen, you’re bound to find something that speaks to you. And knowing you’re supporting independent artists? Well, that’s just the cherry on top.

So, if you’re looking for a delightful day out, a dose of artistic inspiration, or simply a chance to add some beautiful art to your life, do yourself a favour and head to the Affordable Art Fair next time it’s in town. Well, that would make it the Autumn edition! You won’t regret it.

I always get my ticket on the day, or even at the door, it’s a reasonable £14 for general admission. If you consider that a museum exhibition is generally £25, then this is a true bargain. And if I’m hungry or thirsty, the multiple cafes or bars will get me sorted. There’s nothing better than sipping a bubbly Prosecco while admiring such amazing creative work.

Honestly, the world would be so terribly dull without art, and this fair is a brilliant celebration of all things bright and beautiful.

See you at the next one!
