Rules of Motivation – in a nutshell.
April 1 – tomorrow – a great time to start a new goal. Spring is coming, clocks have changed, and weather is on our side.
1 – Set a major end goal, but more importantly, set the steps to achieve it. Without a clear plan, you will literally go one step forward, two steps back. You need to be aware of the possible setback and blocks to your path and think creatively on how you will overcome those hurtles.
2 – Have a clear end date on how long you think it will take so you have something to aim for instead of an endless date. If you have a clear focus on the goal, then you will have the motivation to achieve it by that date. This applies to everything, weight loss, training, changing career, moving, or learning a new skill.
3 – Socialise with others with similar interests. This increases motivation and it lifts your social spirit by being around other people who share your passion. There is a group for everyone. If there isn’t – then start one!
4 – Learn more about leaning. No matter what you think you know about how to achieve your goal, you should still be open to learning other ways to achieve it that you hadn’t considered. New discoveries are always being made, more information available, and new products developed.
5. Use your natural talents and interests to help keep your motivation high. When you are good at something naturally, you will discover you only continue to get better at it or add more skills to your wonderful talents. It’s not only learning more about yourself, but also having more fun doing it.
6 – Incorporate gratitude for the goal you have. It will make you appreciate it even more that you have the ability, brains, and capability to be that person you want to be and achieve that goal you want to accomplish.
7 – Take risks. If you are worried, or fearful or afraid of starting, just do it! Remembering as you fill your mind with silly made up negative “what if’s”, just acknowledge it and think, “it might be a little difficult, but it is not impossible”. No one has ever succeeded at anything worthwhile without a few setbacks or failures – they learnt from them and did NOT let it stop them. Just stay on track!
Best wishes – you can do it!
