When your child becomes a teenager, be prepared as a parent to get a few NOs when you suggest going out with mum and dad. I have been looking at attractions in London that might be appealing to teens and Madame Tussauds received a warm welcome from London Mums’ teen reporters Alice and Diego (both 16). I gather from their joint review of Madame Tussauds that they had a blast:

“A walk through the stars – Being surrounded by celebrities is definitely a unique experience.
This dream can become true if you decide to visit Madame Tussauds, an attraction which allows you to be face to face with lots of famous people’s ultra realistic wax figures.
From the minute you enter this incredible museum, you will be amazed by the extraordinary realism of the statues.
You can, or better, you must take pictures with your favourite celebrities to feel like a star at least for one day.
You can admire athletes, actors, musicians and also the members of the Royal Family.
Some statues look exactly the same as the real people, such as Angelina Jolie’s one. Others, such as Emma Watson’s one might appear a little bit less realistic and may leave you disappointed.
But there’s more than just wax statues, in fact at the end of your visit you will enjoy a relaxing tour ride to look at some animated statues and learn more about London’s history in a fun way.
So, if you’re in London, you can’t leave without stopping at Madame Tussauds!”.
The mums’ point of view
From my point of view as a parent, from the moment you enter the premises, you are caught in a frenzy to take as many selfies as possible with the wax statues of the celebrities. I certainly got ’star-struck’ too but felt a bit overwhelmed at the end of two hours of constant browsing through the wax VIPs. During the visit, there were four people in our party with ages ranging from 16 to 55 years old. We all got close and personal with A-list celebrities, rock and pop stars, historical figures, sporting legends and political leaders, allowing you to start conversations about them.
We also experienced Marvel Super Heroes 4D which is 9 minute 4D animated cinematic attraction with wind-chilling, water-soaking, and face-flinching special effects. It is not overwhelmingly good but the teenagers liked it.
Everybody loved taking loads of pictures and interacting with the figures so it is worth visiting Madame Tussauds to see the teens happy. They said that this was one of the best things to do in London. I’d disagree as a parent, but I like seeing my son happy.
How to get to Madame Tussauds
We went to Madame Tussauds by tube which is the easiest way for visitors to get there. After exiting Baker Street tube station, turn left and you immediately see the round green dome. Depending on how you have booked your ticket, you need to enter a specific door to avoid queueing for too long. You’ll go through airport style bag search before being immersed into the world of wax stardom.
What’s inside
The museum is divided in Zones (music, Royalty, World Leaders, Hollywood Stars, Sports Stars, Pop Stars, Cultural Figures, Fashion, Characters) and Experiences (Marvel Universe 4D movie, Experience wind-chilling, water-soaking, and face-flinching special effects as you get closer than ever before to Captain Marvel, Thor, Black Panther, Rocket, Spider-Man, Ant-Man and The Wasp as they battle Loki in a bid to save the world. Be aware that depending on how popular a figure is, it may take some time but you can move on and go back to the figures you want to photograph.
