Film review: Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween is an entertaining family movie that says what’s on the till. It is scary enough for a Halloween themed party but it is also quite funny which makes it suitable for the whole family to watch. Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween is released in the UK on the 19th October 2018.

The verdict 

Goosebumps2: Haunted Halloween is a lot of fun and silliness that kids will definitely enjoy this Halloween.  We found that the book series are more terrifying compared to this film which had some mild scary themes. The film touched on a teenage romance that quickly leads to heartache and school bullies that got what they deserved in the end. There’s a lot of computer generated special effects so flashing lights are to be expected.

The main characters are Sam and Sonny (and Sonny’s sister Sarah) who are childhood friends. Sonny and Sam set up a new junk disposal business and on their first day on the job they found an unpublished magic book that bought to life all kinds of Halloween ghosts, witches, monsters, pumpkins and spiders. They also found a menacing ventriloquist’s doll named Slappy inside the abandoned creepy house. The doll came to life and started havoc and mayhem to fulfil his wish to be part of a family. 

 

Sonny, Sam and Sarah sets out to find the magic book that was stolen by a bully and save the community from the  rampaging doll and his creepy flying witches and ghouls he bought to life.

Our favourite part was the tiny gummy bears that merge into one another to create a giant gummy bear.  They still weren’t scary or vicious and we find them rather cute.
