There’s a misconception that women are great at multitasking and my wife is proof of that. I’m not suggesting that men are better at dealing with more than one task at a time either, I’m writing this article on a train and I’ve just missed my stop.
This is going to sound like a wife beater in A&E but my wife is pretty clumsy. She walks into trees, lamp posts and door frames (now I really sound like I’ve been abusing her). Sometimes she just falls over walking down the street, not because the path was icy or she was wear very high heels, she just falls over.
The worst part of it was that she really hurts herself, a few months ago we ended up in A&E and an X-Ray revealed not only a hairline fracture but evidence of similar previous injuries.
Last year we brought bikes and she fell off of hers countless times. Thankfully since we received a positive pregnancy test she has decided to take the train to work.
But that’s my biggest worry, she is 23 Weeks pregnant now and I don’t believe her falling over days are over. So now I’ve become so overly protective that to be honest I’m really not happy about her leaving the house unescorted.
This isn’t irrational, first time parent, overprotective paranoia, my worries are well founded.
Last week she fell up some stairs and cut her knee whilst having a conversation with a health and safety officer at work.
Obviously I don’t want to think about the worst case scenario by I’m totally expecting my Boy Scout sling making skills to into action once again.
And then what? After baby is born will it be me doing all the heavy lifting? Waitrose deliver so I’m not bothered about that but for some reason I’m convinced we’re going to have a big fat beefy baby.
I can see it now, after a few weeks I’ll be installing monster truck tires on our pram and visiting the doctors complaining about RSI.
