Cars 2: 007 meets Blake Edwards’ The Great Race. Pixar’s Cars 2 is a spy story with anthropomorphised cars as characters and elements of The Great Race in a new modern key.
The special effects devised by Walt Disney’s Pixar studios are incredible and very sophisticated particularly in featuring cities including London and Paris that have been reproduced with lots of details. This new movie will appeal to the parents a lot more than the first Cars because it includes very topical issues such as the fuel and green fuel debate, and because it looks like a James Bond 007 spy movie with cars instead of humans. The level of details in the film will make the film interesting even after watching it millions of times. The animation techniques are extraordinary this time compared to the first movie, although the story line of Cars 1 was much simpler for the kids to understand.
THE PLOT: Star race car Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in Cars 2 when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Mater finds himself torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret mission orchestrated by master British super spy Finn McMissile (voice of Michael Caine) and the stunning spy-in-training Holley Shiftwell (voice of Emily Mortimer).(C) Disney – Walt Disney Pictures/PIXAR
